Some time ago I finally got the money together to get my dream home… a Sindy dream home!
Now my Sindy can live in the lap of luxury we’ve dreamed of, but more about the dream home another time.
This is a story about Sindy and her new Jumper.
Sindy needed a new outfit, you can see by her wardrobe that her choices are few, and some of the stuff belongs to Barbie who has clothes just too small.
What is a girl to do?
She even looked in the wash basket, but nothing was in there apart from her nightie.
And more importantly, that new Ken was coming over and she had a bit of a thing for him!
Ok, it’s at this point where I had to intervene, I went on Ravelry and found a pattern for a Blythe doll sweater by Eefje Savelkoul. I’m not sure how the body proportions differ between the dolls, but I liked the sweater so I downloaded it, got a bit of wool (Jamiesons Shetland wool) and knitted it up.

I used a very small bit of wool, far too little, and couldn’t finish the sleeves, but here’s how it turned out.
Not too bad! the neck was very large, but the blythe dolls have large heads so it is probably needed, but it meant there was a large saggy bit at the front and back. I wanted the neck to be smaller and the decrease for the bust in a different place and both the length and sleeves slightly longer, but these are tiny adjustments. Anyway, with a new ball of wool and a few tweaks I made this.
It’s a really pretty design and I love how the pattern has a fitted style, you could even continue the length to make an elegant fitted dress.

Now, go and say hello to Ken…
It took a while to knit the sweater and sew in the ends. By the time Sindy got downstairs that Ken was on the sofa with Old Sindy, I’m so annoyed. But wait till he realises her head falls off, he’ll soon come calling for me!
So, yep, this lockdown is doing crazy things to people’s imagination and this a lot different to my usual blog posts (although I rather like this).
Hope you liked the review, the pattern is a free download, but you have to join Ravelry (and if you knit/crochet you really should be using Ravelry already). It uses DPNs (double pointed needles) so works in the round and it can be tricky for some knitting such small pieces, but it’s a lovely pattern and well worth trying.
