Craft events

Below is a list of regular craft events around Leeds. If you have an event you would like adding to this page email me and I will add it.

Wednesday

11am – 2pm    Spinners of Aire, Armley Mills, Leeds

A group of people interested in hand spinning. Beginners welcome and you don’t need a wheel to attend. Although the event is free there is a small charge into the museum. You can buy tea and coffee in the museum, the group stops for lunch… bring a lunch!

If you are coming by bus the number 5 from the train station stops outside.

3pm – 5pm    Knitting and Crochet group, Costa coffee shop, Crown Point, Leeds

A small and friendly group that meets in Costa coffee shop, near Hobbycraft at Crown Point Retail Park. Beginners are welcome, we are happy to teach crocheting and knitting. It is a free group, but I think Costas would appreciate it if you bought a drink!

Bus 12/13/13a from Vicar lane all stop outside. Wakefield buses from Leeds bus station also stop outside.

6pm – 9pm Knitting and Crochet group, Three Hulats, Chapel Allerton

A friendly and lively group that meets in the Three Hulats pub. The group meets as a smaller group on Saturdays too. They often arrange group trips to wool festivals. Help is available for beginners but if you have never knitted or crocheted before it is expected you learn some basics first (the previous group could help).

The 2/2a/3 buses stop just after the pub. There is a small car park next to the pub, there is also a car park at Lidl’s (or Aldi’s – I get those two mixed up) but be careful, the supermarket charges a fine for parking more than 90 mins.

Thursdays

2pm – 4pm    Craft Cafe, Inkwell, Potternewton Lane, Chapel Allerton

The craft cafe has a variety of crafts available including jewellery making, sewing, pottery and papercrafts. The entrance fee is £3.50 which includes all equipment. The cafe is run at Inkwell, which is a Leeds MIND venue, it’s open to all and has limited disabled access. A small step into the building, and steps out to the garden, but staff and volunteers will do all they can to make you feel welcome. There is also a cafe (of course) it is a Vegetarian cafe and the food is very good and homemade.

The 3/3a/2 buses all go within a minutes walk of the venue.
