William is a Yorkshire fisherman from Whitby.
He is made from British Cheviot wool processed and hand dyed in Yorkshire. He is firmly filled with British lambswool and has joints in his arms and legs making him quite the play fellow.
His underwear, socks, shoes and trousers are crocheted with a blend of British wool and alpaca.
What really makes him special though is his hand dyed and hand knitted traditional fisherman’s Gansey.
Made using traditional methods shrunk down to miniature size his jumper resembles the traditional Ganseys worn by the fishermen of Whitby.
He also has a warm woollen hat made to match his Gansey and perfect for sailing the high seas.
His face and hair and needle felted from Merino wool.
William, although being a Yorkshire fisherman is handmade by Betty Virago and based on her Grandfather, William Pocock, the last of a long line of Salmon fishermen and wooden boat builders from Bridgwater, Somerset.
